Xbox fans are accustomed to Microsoft blocking Xbox personalized controllers and consoles behind competitions on social networks, making them available only when it is almost impossible to obtain prizes instead of selling them to the public in general. But it seems that Microsoft’s last effort (an Xbox controller with the shape of Deadpool’s back) is the drop that closed the vessel.
Microsoft revealed its new Xbox wireless controller inspired by “the perfectly recreated and much-discussed rear end of Deadpool” to coincide with the upcoming Marvel movie Deadpool & Wolverine. He calls this new Xbox controller the “Controller Cheeky” and says it “channelizes Deadpool’s steel balls into his firm (but surprisingly comfortable) grip.”
To the frustration of many, Microsoft has made this Xbox Deadpool controller available only to one winner of the competition, as it has repeatedly done with previous flashy accessories. Fans over 18 years of age around the world can participate to have a chance to win by following Xbox in X/Twitter and retweeting the official tweet of the Xbox sweepstakes.
The tweet in question currently has 225.000 retweets and the competition did not end until the 8 p.m. m. pacific hour/11 p. m. Eastern time of Sunday, August 11, 2024. According to Microsoft’s page about the competition, the grand prize only includes: An Xbox Series Approximate selling price (ARV) $440,00 USD.
Two (2) personalized Xbox wireless controllers inspired by Marvel’s Deadpool and Wolverine. Approximate selling price (ARV) $319.98 USD.
A console support Xbox Series Approximate Selling Value (ARV) $100,00 USD.
The approximate total value (ARV) of all prizes: $859,98 USD.
So, to be clear, only one person can win and will get two of these controllers. Sinisterly, Microsoft adds: “The odds of winning are based on the number of eligible participations received.”
“This is how companies sometimes taste money,” asked redditor ImNotaM00SE in an extended thread on the controller. “This carbon will be sold like a loco.”
“Honestly, I would buy this with my eyes open and closed”, added RandoDude124. “I don’t use my Series X, but I would have bought it because of the novelty”, said Rektw. “Use it lightly for some PC games or something like that”. FriedThings commented: “I don’t even have an Xbox, but I’ll buy it until I get tired.”
There is a similar feeling in the social networks, where the fans are asking that they cannot withdraw money from the screen and that the back of Deadpool in the form of platform Xbox is at its door.
